P.O.L. Phospholipids Complex Science

P.O.L. Cream and Lotion are formulated to deliver the proven benefits of a complex of phospholipids, glycolipids and ceramides – powerful natural antioxidants and the chief moisturizing agents in the skin, which penetrate the skin to provide long lasting moisturizing and protection and provide safe and effective treatment and protection of thin dry, cracked skin. Phospholipids are the prime building blocks of all forms of life – and thus Phospholipids are indispensable to all forms of life and healthy skin: assembling and strengthening skin cell membranes, stimulating microcirculation and accelerating the natural healing of superficial and serious traumatized skin. P.O.L. Cream and Lotion also deliver two other natural lipids, glycolipids and ceramides, and contains the antioxidant vitamins A and E to protect and promote skin repair.

The formulation also combines the healing and soothing properties of Allantoin and Bisabolol, the natural and well tolerated skin emollient, Safflower Oil, to condition the skin and maintain skin moisture; and Dimethicone and Glycerin to protect, condition, and hydrate skin and help reestablish the skin’s natural barrier function. A special ingredient, Saccharomyces ferment provides skin strengthening proteins to the skin.

Unique to P.O.L. CREAM is Skin Strengthening Complex. This blend of four essential oils enhances the natural skin strengthening and conditioning properties of the cream.

Vitamin E (tocopherol acetate)

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant. It protects skin cell membrane lipids and slows the development of fine lines and wrinkles by preventing the formation of free radicals, which cause premature aging. It is essential to tissue repair.

Vitamin A (retinyl palmitate)

Vitamin A is a natural antioxidant that stimulates the growth and development of skin. Vitamin A also helps regulate sebum production. Sebum acts as a protective barrier against infection.

Safflower Oil

This natural oil is lighter in weight than most other oils and is excellent in conditioning the skin and helping prevent moisture loss; but, importantly it is well tolerated by those who have special skin challenges such as psoriasis, eczema, and acne.

Allantoin

This ingredient in P.O.L. CREAM and LOTION helps create soft, silky, and smooth skin. It stimulates the skin-repair process and healthy tissue formation. It also helps eliminate chapping and cracking. Allantoin is also soothing, healing, and anti-irritating.

Bisabolol

A naturally occurring component of German Chamomile, it has been shown to reduce redness and irritation of the skin.

Glycerin

This highly effective moisturizing agent keeps the intercellular layer intact, and acts as a natural barrier to help skin retain and attract moisture.

Dimethicone

This moisture barrier protects and conditions skin. It acts as an emollient (or lubricant) to give skin a soft, smooth appearance.

Saccaromyces ferment

Although some of the proteins delivered to the skin are excellent moisturizers, this material has a unique property. It has been shown to increase the production of hyaluronan – a component found in the skin’s extracellular matrix. Since Hyaluronan slows with age, this is considered to be a unique way of addressing the problem of aging.

Skin Strengthening Complex

Rosewood Oil: Derived from the tree of the same name it is a powerful antioxidant and is helpful in treating skin disease. Clove Lead Oil: This oil has been shown to be an effective antiaging ingredient – it helps increase blood flow, resulting in a younger-looking skin with fewer wrinkles and sags; it is especially effective around the eyes. Pelargonium graveolens (Geranium) flower oil: When applied to skin it supports a healthy blood flow and nervous system Rosa Damascena flower oil: Known for its topical healing and antiseptic properties.

Phenoxyethanol and Methylisothazolinone

This is a common cosmetic preservative.

Moisturizing Clinical Study CABOT P.O.L. 44k pdf

Cabot P.O.L. Cream decreases skin surface dryness/roughness by 94% versus 55% for the Cetaphil Moisturizer, increased skin hydration by 167% versus 32%, respectively and improved barrier function (TEWL) by 13% versus 7% when compared to the typical moisturizer. Additionally, after both products had not been used for three days, the test sites for the P.O.L. formula still demonstrated a 36% improvement in the overall condition and appearance of dry/rough skin, a 58% increase over the baseline moisture content of the skin and a 16% improvement in barrier function (TEWL) compared to 14%, 10% and 9% for the same categories measured for typical moisturizer, respectively.

Lipids to Minimize Decubitus Ulcers 60k pdf

A clinical evaluation in approximately 200 non-ambulatory patients, between the ages of 50 and 99 with various pathologies, was conducted, whereby products containing lipids were used to minimize the occurrence of decubitus ulcers.
